The mission of the Generous Hearts Stewardship Commission is to educate, engage and inspire St. Matthew parishioners to prayerfully discern and use their God-given gifts in our thriving faith community; to create a culture of gratitude and care for God’s gifts; and to help others nurture their personal journey with the Lord. Stewardship Education helps to inform and educate our parish on the many aspects of stewardship, namely time and talent and treasure. This is achieved through monthly bulletin flyers, weekly Generous Hearts thoughts and several Generous Hearts Sundays conducted throughout the year and periodic presentations and workshops on different stewardship subjects. Susan Bentley 590-3298 or [email protected]
Volunteer Coordinators are parishioners who act as a main point of contact for all those who are discerning or desire to become engaged members of the parish, and are unsure of how to take that first step in becoming involved. They also serve as a resource for the committees of the parish by assisting the parish staff in gathering and distributing data from the parish data base in an effort to match parishioners with volunteer opportunities in the parish. If you are interested in helping with any of the ministries listed in this directory contact the volunteer coordinator team. Amy Stimpson 989-3124 [email protected]
Annual Stewardship Renewal and the Archdiocesan appeal is conducted in the fall. This is a time for education and commitment of your personal stewardship to the parish and archdiocese in time, prayer and treasure. Steve Stapleton 845-4270 (H) 518-6142 (C) [email protected].
Sample Saint Matthew is a wonderful way to learn about all of the opportunities that we have here at Saint Matthew. This “ministry fair” has each ministry highlighted with a special food treat that relates to their ministry. Each ministry also has a table where information about their work is available. This fun event takes place after all Masses one weekend in the fall. Judi Green 946-9106 | [email protected]
Welcoming Committee: establishes outreach practices to make St. Matthew a warm and “welcoming” parish. Includes greeters at all Masses and quarterly “Welcome Sundays”. Leslie Kerr 823-0112 [email protected]
Children’s Stewardship promotes the idea of forming Generous Hearts from an early age. Children are encouraged to turn in their envelopes at the offertory time by bringing them up to place in the children’s offertory basket at the altar or by placing them in the baskets that are passed in the pews. The envelopes encourage the children to reflect on ways they have given of their time, their talent or their treasure! Families are encouraged to talk about ways to give back to the Lord. In the bulletin each week, we list the many examples of children’s stewardship. Jackie Noll 257-4297 Ext. 1005. [email protected]
Stewardship Commission The Stewardship Commission works to encourage all parishioners in their roles as stewards of God’s abundant gifts. They are responsible for developing and implementing parish-wide stewardship awareness programs. The commission helps communicate service opportunities and connect volunteers with parish groups. They also conduct the annual renewal and Archdiocesan United Catholic Appeal which invites parishioners to make planned and proportional gifts to the parish and the archdiocese. This committee is currently in search of willing leadership. Call Parish Office 257-4297
